Born in Havana, he began studying guitar when he was ten years old. After
studying at the National School of Art (ISA), he was part of Cuban Felipe Dulzaldes’ quintet. In 1985 he joined the band of Cuban trumpeter Arturo
Sandoval with whom he participated for six years at the most important jazz festivals in the world and shared the stage with the likes of Michel Legrand, Dizzy Gillespie, John Fadis, Joe Pass, Wynton Marsalis, etc . In 1997 he began working with Chucho Valdes and Irakere, doing international tours in jazz festivals in Europe and US.
